About The Impala Kid

I’m a late baby-boomer-aged husband of one wife for 25+ years, father of four children, and my wife and I and three kids live in central Kentucky.

I was born in Ashland, Kentucky, and grew up in Flatwoods, Kentucky (no, I DON’T know Billy Ray Cyrus or Miley).   After short stints in New Orleans, Denver, and Richmond, my family and I lived most of our lives in the northern Kentucky area south of Cincinnati.  In 2006 we moved to central Kentucky for work because my job was outsourced to India.

I became a Christian while a teenager at Bellefonte Presbyterian Church, under the ministry of William Garda.  After my wife and I moved to New Orleans the second time in 1984, we started attending an independent Baptist church in Terrytown, Louisiana.  We’ve been in independent Baptist churches ever since then.

My personal interests include automobiles, motorsports, computers, target and skeet shooting, and wood carving.

I came up with the nickname of sorts of “The Impala Kid” when trying to sign up for a GMail account.  I’ve always been a fan of the 1961 to 1964 Chevrolet Impalas and Belairs, and even owned a ‘64 Impala for a while back in the 80s.   If Publisher’s Clearinghouse would happen to call with a large cash award, I would purchase a 1961 to 1964 Impala SS, red, with black interior, with a 409 cubic inch engine and a four speed transmission.  It would have charcoal Torq Thrust aluminum wheels on it.
